One emerging trend in radiation oncology is to transition a patient’s care to a shorter fractionation course for many varied reasons, for many this means treating with stereotactic radiotherapy.  Treating with stereotactic radiotherapy is not a direct crosswalk from standard external beam fractionation courses and comes with many additional considerations and requirements by payers.

This presentation will review the coding specific to both stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) courses of treatment, address payer guidelines for staff participation, documentation requirements and how to bill for treatment to multiple areas during the same course of treatment.  Time will also be provided to address many of the frequently asked questions presented to RCI regarding SRS and SBRT.
