2018 brings a host of changes to available codes for reporting cardiovascular services. Changes to EVAR procedures will impact over thirty (30) codes. New comprehensive codes have been created for EVAR procedures. These codes will distinguish between non-emergent procedures and those for aneurysm rupture. Additionally, there will be new codes for transcatheter mitral valve implantation/replacement go into effect 1/1/18.
Other changes impact anticoagulation management; Category I codes have been created for total replacement heart system procedures; deletion of codes for LA Hemodynamic monitoring as well as those for Intracardiac Ischemia Monitoring. Practices appreciate the addition of New codes for event recorder without 24-hour attended monitoring.
